Care & Ownership

Objects intended to be lived with.

Thoughtful care protects the weight, shape, color, and quiet character of a SNDGRS piece. Always follow the sewn-in care label first; it takes precedence over the general guidance below.

Before washing

  • Turn the garment inside out to reduce surface friction and protect tonal embroidery.
  • Wash with similar dark colors using cold water, a gentle cycle, and a small amount of mild detergent.
  • Avoid bleach, fabric softener, harsh stain treatments, and prolonged soaking.
  • Empty pockets and treat marks promptly without aggressive rubbing.

Drying and restoring shape

Reshape the garment while damp and allow it to air dry when practical. If the sewn-in label permits machine drying, use the lowest heat and remove the garment promptly. High heat can affect cotton fibers, shape, and embroidery over time.

Tonal embroidery

Do not iron directly over the embroidered mark. If pressing is needed and the care label permits it, work from the reverse side using low heat with a clean cloth between the iron and garment.

Storage

Store the piece clean and completely dry. Folding is preferred for extended storage so the garment’s weight does not pull at the shoulders. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Natural change

Dense cotton fleece will soften with wear. Deep black may gradually develop character, and light surface pilling can occur where fabric experiences repeated friction. These changes are part of use rather than a defect. A fabric comb may be used gently on the surface, away from embroidery.
